Our client, a manufacturer of turbojet engines, is seeking a Senior Test Engineer. This key position will provide technical ownership of gas turbine engine and subsystem testing at their Fulton County, GA facility. The ideal candidate will lead development and production test activities, oversee test stand design and operation, and ensure flawless data collection and analysis across development, qualification, and production testing. This role is critical to ensuring their propulsion systems meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Ownership: Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for all engine test procedures and operability standards. Own development, qualification, and production test plans for propulsion systems.

  • Test Planning & Execution: Develop and execute test plans for engine and subsystem validation, process optimization, and investigation. Support both static and simulated altitude testing environments at facilities or customer sites.

  • System Design & Integration: Design or modify test fixtures, flow benches, and other hardware for propulsion system testing. Oversee system definition, instrumentation layout, and data acquisition configurations.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Maintain and improve post-processing tools for analyzing engine performance data. Conduct detailed data analysis to support design validation and root cause investigations.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure engine performance objectives are achieved. Support production test operations and troubleshooting during new product introduction (NPI) and customer flight campaigns.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and technology upgrades across the test organization. Participate in establishing the company’s test and technology roadmap for future propulsion programs.

Qualifications and Job Information

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • 7+ years of industry experience with gas turbine systems, including 5+ years in a hands-on test environment.

  • Expertise in testing instrumentation and measurement techniques, including system design and calibration.

  • Strong knowledge of turbomachinery operation, control systems (ECU/FADEC), and communication protocols.

  • Demonstrated experience leading test readiness reviews (TRR), test concept reviews (TCR), or equivalent.

  • Proficiency in GD&T per ASME standards and data analysis tools (MATLAB, LabVIEW, or equivalent).

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • U.S. citizenship required (ITAR compliance).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with defense or aerospace propulsion systems and MIL-STD standards.

  • Familiarity with CAN Aerospace protocols.

  • Experience handling aviation fuels (Jet-A, JP-8, JP-10) and hazardous operations.

  • Electrical system design experience for test infrastructure and engine subsystems.


Requirements

  • Onsite Monday – Friday in Roswell, GA.

  • Up to 15% travel, including customer and supplier site visits (domestic and international).

  • Typical manufacturing and test environment requiring use of PPE and adherence to safety standards.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift 50 lbs as part of regular test setup activities.
