This is an outstanding opportunity for a procurement professional with aerospace, turbine engine, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience who thrives in a fast-paced production environment.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing the procurement of direct and indirect materials, developing strategic supplier relationships, supporting production schedules, and ensuring critical components are delivered on time to support manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the complete purchase order lifecycle, including planning, placement, order maintenance, supplier follow-up, and expediting activities.
Procure direct materials required for manufacturing and assembly while maintaining accurate delivery commitments.
Process indirect purchasing requirements including:
Engineering services
Tooling
Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE)
Capital equipment
Component repairs
Facility and operational purchases
Coordinate material schedules to support production requirements and inventory objectives.
Manage procurement of components with extended lead times (6+ months).
Develop, maintain, and strengthen supplier relationships to improve delivery performance, quality, and responsiveness.
Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve material issues and support production.
Monitor supplier performance and proactively address supply chain risks.
Maintain accurate procurement documentation and purchasing records within the ERP system.
Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement efficiency, supplier performance, and operational excellence.
Deliver exceptional internal customer service while building strong relationships across the organization.
Qualifications and Job Information
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional procurement experience.
Minimum 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience within aerospace, aviation, turbine/engine manufacturing, defense, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
Strong experience managing direct material procurement and purchase order execution.
Experience supporting manufacturing production schedules.
Working knowledge of sourcing processes, supplier management, and procurement best practices.
Experience using ERP/MRP systems for purchasing and inventory management.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
US Citizenship required (ITAR facility)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting aerospace or defense manufacturing operations.
Experience purchasing machined components, fabricated parts, precision hardware, and engineered assemblies.
Knowledge of long-lead material planning and supplier scheduling.
Continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience.
Experience working within AS9100 or other regulated manufacturing environments.
