Our client, a manufacturer headquartered in Gwinnett County, Georgia, is seeking a R&D Engineer responsible for concepting and developing new products, analyzing nonconforming product, providing manufacturing support when needed, and making continual improvements to manufacturing processes using Lean and quality tools.
**Ideal candidate must have experience in Hyperscale Data Center Solutions, fiber optic cable assemblies, splice or connector housing, and Fiber Optic Termination Boxes/Enclosures (injection-molded plastic design).
Responsibilities/Duties:Â
Create 3D models, prototypes, iterations, and proof of concepts, within rapid design cycles.
Provide engineering input to develop NPI project plan and execute assigned tasks.
Understand industry landscape and product trends to concept and develop novel solutions.
Ability to test designs and apply the scientific method of problem solving in NPD.
Conduct initial tests of prototypes and qualification tests on new product designs.
Evaluate samples supplied by manufacturing for approval.
Maintain/monitor laboratory equipment and calibration.
Assist production team with manufacturing layouts, operation, and calibration.
Qualifications and Job Information
Must have Qualifications:Â
Must have 3+ years designing Fiber Panels & Modules for Data Centers, Hyperscale Data Center Solutions for High-Speed Networks, or fiber optics injected molded plastic terminal boxes. (SolidWorks preferred)
BS, Mechanical Engineering degree or relevant industry experience.
Required experience with R&D / product development projects as a contributing participant.
Strong design and development experience with complex tight tolerances plastic molded parts and sheet metal parts and assemblies.
Experience in manufacturing processes and solutions for data communications products.
Telecommunications industry standards and test procedure experience.
Experience with programming and operation of automated testing equipment and systems
CAD experience in SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or similar.
