Requirements

Our client headquartered in metro Birmingham, AL is seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer. The Drafter position report directly to VP of Engineering and is pivotal in supporting operations and the supply base to manufacture electrical products. This role entails interpreting customer specifications, drafting in SOLIDWORKS, managing shop work orders, and undertaking various administrative tasks.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Designing primarily using SOLIDWORKS or AutoCAD LT, adhering to department CAD standards.

  • Detailing fabricated parts and utilizing a vast library of pre-existing designs to efficiently create drawing packages for customer approval.

  • Making timely revisions based on markups and documenting drawing changes through an established ISO 9001 compliant Engineering Change process.

  • Generating drawing packages from various inputs such as hand sketches, marked photos, and fully detailed substations.

  • Interpreting customer drawings, often involving detailed structural members and equipment layouts.

Qualifications and Job Information

Desired Qualifications:

  • An Associate degree in Drafting from a technical school, with a preferred minimum of 2 years' experience.

  • Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS (3D) or Autocad Inventor

  • Experience with AutoCAD (2D).

  • Familiarity with Office 365 product suite

  • Familiarity with CRM Systems

  • Working experience in PDM/PLM systems.

  • Experience in structural detailing or mechanical system design.

  • The ability to problem-solve and manage multiple projects concurrently.
