Position Overview
We are supporting a client seeking a Mechanical Automation Engineer (DriveWorks) to play a key role in advancing engineered-to-order and configurable product platforms. This position focuses on transforming mechanical engineering knowledge into intelligent automation, enabling faster, more consistent, and more scalable design outcomes.
This is an onsite role based in Newton County, Georgia. Candidates currently located outside the area who are open to relocation are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate is passionate about design automation, standardization, and reducing manual engineering effort through robust DriveWorks implementations. This role works closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to elevate design quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
Key Challenges
To be successful in this role, the Mechanical Automation Engineer will navigate:
Translating complex engineering rules, standards, and product logic into reliable DriveWorks automation
Balancing standardization with required product customization
Aligning automated designs with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Sales needs
Updating legacy models, drawings, and workflows without disrupting active projects
Ensuring automation accuracy, validation, and scalability—where errors can quickly propagate
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design Automation
Design and develop mechanical systems for configurable industrial equipment
Create, maintain, and enhance DriveWorks automation projects, including:
Parametric models and assemblies
Automated drawings and documentation
Automated Bills of Material (BOMs)
Translate engineering standards, product rules, and configuration logic into repeatable automated workflows
Standardization & Scalability
Support standardization of parts, assemblies, drawing templates, and naming conventions
Reduce engineering variation while preserving necessary customer-driven customization
Improve long-term scalability of engineered-to-order product platforms
Collaboration & Integration
Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Sales to ensure automated designs are accurate, manufacturable, and cost-effective
Support engineering leadership by improving design consistency and reducing engineering cycle time
Efficiency & Continuous Improvement
Increase engineering efficiency by reducing manual effort, errors, and design lead times
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to design automation, DriveWorks logic, and engineering processes
Documentation & Knowledge Capture
Document design standards, automation logic, workflows, and best practices
Support training and adoption of automated tools and standardized processes across the engineering team
Qualifications and Job Information
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Strong experience with DriveWorks (Drive Solo, Pro, or Enterprise)
SolidWorks expertise, including parametric modeling and configurations
Experience supporting engineered-to-order or configurable products
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability
High attention to detail and structured problem-solving skills
Ability and willingness to work onsite in Newton County, GA
Preferred
Experience with HVAC, industrial equipment, or capital machinery
Exposure to ERP/MRP integration and automated BOM generation
Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy CAD models and drawings
Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
