Our client, a manufacturer headquartered in Gwinnett County, Georgia, is seeking a R&D Engineer responsible for concepting and developing new products, analyzing nonconforming product, providing manufacturing support when needed, and making continual improvements to manufacturing processes using Lean and quality tools. This role will also be involved in developing customer system requirements, exceeding the customer's expectations and resolution of challenges.
This is a key and hands-on team position that is critical in the development and production of critical connectivity products made and used globally!
Responsibilities/Duties:Â
Create 3D models, prototypes, iterations, and proof of concepts, within rapid design cycles.
Provide engineering input to develop NPI project plan and execute assigned tasks.
Understand industry landscape and product trends to concept and develop novel solutions.
Ability to test designs and apply the scientific method of problem solving in NPD.
Conduct initial tests of prototypes and qualification tests on new product designs.
Evaluate samples supplied by manufacturing for approval.
Maintain/monitor laboratory equipment and calibration.
Assist production team with manufacturing layouts, operation, and calibration.
Qualifications and Job Information
Qualifications:Â
BS, Mechanical Engineering degree required.
Required experience with R&D / product development projects as a contributing participant.
10 years of experience developing numerous projects, with verifying complexity.
Strong design and development experience with complex tight tolerances plastic molded parts and sheet metal parts and assemblies.
Experience in manufacturing processes and solutions for data communications products.
Telecommunications industry standards and test procedure experience.
Experience with programming and operation of automated testing equipment and systems
Self-directed and motivated participant in project process, design through manufacture.
Excellent written, oral communications and teamwork abilities.
CAD experience in SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or similar.
SolidWorks PDM experience (preferred).
3D printer experience (preferred).
MS Office & Project work experience.
