Requirements

We are working with a client, headquartered in Europe, who is seeking a Senior level Mechanical Engineer for their Gwinnett County, GA facility. This international high-technology group operates within the aviation, defense, and space markets.


Key responsibilities include generating and modifying schematics, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and drawings, along with parts sourcing and design modifications to align with US customer requirements. The role necessitates collaboration with cross-functional teams such as sales, manufacturing, programs, and customers to fulfill design prerequisites, troubleshoot issues, and validate products for customer release.


Strong familiarity with mechanical design tools and past designs is advantageous, particularly to support their antenna product line. Additionally, knowledge of Software and Electrical Engineering would be beneficial.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Generate and modify existing drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing instructions to meet US customer specifications.

  • Ensure product and design solutions meet customer specifications.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional agencies to support the development and design activities.

  • Participate in and lead design reviews/PDRs/CDRs and other technical discussions.

  • Understand customer use cases and explain how product solutions can meet or exceed customer requirements.

  • Identify deficiencies in mechanical processes and develop improvements.

  • Design and develop prototypes and analyze and test for each revision of a device.

  • Supervise the development of CAD project drawings from junior team members.

  • Develop, initiate, and manage all project phases.

  • Prepare documentation of critical analysis and provide suggestions for correcting errors.

  • Collaborate with Project Managers for proper allocation and tracking of resources.

  • Collaborate with French engineers to resolve issues as part of the development process.

  • Support various duties related to RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs responses.

Qualifications and Job Information

Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering

  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in system architecture, drawings, BOMs, and materials, particularly metals.

  • Advanced proficiency in mechanical design tools such as SolidWorks CAD, etc.

  • Ability to develop innovative solutions for complex problems and effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.

  • Experience designing and sourcing domestic castings and forged parts.

  • Experience interpreting European CAD drawings and converting to drawing packages conforming to US metal part tolerance and specification standards.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (written and oral).

  • Exhibit a team-player attitude, share knowledge, learn from others, and support other teams within the organization.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience in Telemetry, Instrumentation and Systems Engineering is a plus.

  • Understanding of Flight Test Products / Operations is advantageous.

  • Familiarity or understanding of antenna operation, including concepts like G/T, EIRP, and the use of spectrum analyzers, is beneficial.
