Our client headquartered in metro Atlanta, GA is looking for an experienced Chief Engineer. This is an onsite opportunity, with the possibility of relocation.

The candidate will drive overall technical execution of projects and develop and validate system models and designs for DOD and commercial customer computer-based solutions. You will drive focused engagements and engineering efforts from beginning of product definition all the way through release to production.

This role will be responsible for providing technical guidance to multidisciplined teams, leading projects, cultivating and reinforcing organizational culture, and identifying, analyzing, and solving technical problems.

You will be working closely with customers and their needs through end-to-end program lifecycle process, developing, integrating, and testing hardware and software solutions, with a range of complex high-speed computing platforms and systems.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technology and systems engineering focal point for project teams, leadership and customers.

  • Guide engineering teams to understand, analyze, and develop the models, requirements, and designs using standard industry tools, processes, and industry best practices.

  • Lead development and communication of roadmaps for projects, associated technologies, and product lines.

  • Advise and collaborate with Program Managers at Prime DOD Contractors and set expectations of earned value-management.

  • Ensure the development and management of technical risks and develop and execute mitigation plans.

  • Recommend investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization's projects.

  • Monitor cost and schedule and report project status to program management and engineering leadership.

  • Establish trusted and influential relationships with customers and suppliers.

  • Lead technical proposal preparation and serve as a SME.

  • Ensure compliance with international trade policies and procedures.

  • Ensure the protection of intellectual property, safeguard customer and vendor intellectual property.


Qualifications and Job Information

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BS EE), or an equivalent technical degree.

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience.

  • Experience working as a “Technical Lead” and mentoring multidiscipline development teams, coordinating with mechanical, software, hardware and other engineering disciplines.

  • Experience leading engineering teams and projects, including planning, bidding, and business development activities.

  • Experience with design, requirements capture, development, and integration of complex software systems and hardware solutions.

  • Experience with open system architecture development, including systems, software, and hardware development throughout all phases of a program lifecycle.

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, being part of a highly integrated team working closely with software, integration and verification teams.

  • Experience working in a Stage-Gate Process workflow.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with VPX based design and ruggedized design is preferred.

  • DOD project experience.

  • Project Managment (PM) and prioritization and scheduling experience.

  • Experience with MIL-STD requirements.

  • Strong coordination and collaboration skills with onsite and remote layout and design teams.

  • Ability to lead internal and external customer presentations while influencing direction.

  • Experience communicating with executive leadership and vendor relationships.

  • Knowledge of Intel architectures, particularly dual socket Xeon and server-class platforms, is advantageous.

  • Experience with Full Motherboard Design and FPGAs.

  • Experience with high-speed interconnects such as DDR, PCIe, UPI, and USB.

  • Experience with Firmware / Bare Metal Firmware Development.

  • Must be a US citizen and eligible for DoD Top Secret Clearance.

  • This is an onsite role, headquartered in metropolitan Atlanta.

  • Ability to travel (10%).
